Dixons Carphone enjoys strong first half

Dixons Carphone has reported an increase in first half pre-tax profit after making market share gains across all its territories.

The group said pro-forma headline pre-tax profit climbed by 23% to £121 million in the 26 weeks to 31 October while group like-for-like revenue rose by 5%.

Statutory pre-tax profit in the period increased to £78 million from £71 million at the same time last year.

Dixons Carphone said it made market share gains across across all of its regions with like-for-like sales growing by 7% in the UK and Ireland. Meanwhile like-for-like sales in the group’s Nordic and Southern Europe businesses rose by 1% and 4% respectively.

Sebastian James, Dixons Carphone group chief executive, said: “This has been a very good first half for Dixons Carphone. Against a broadly flat market overall and a very strong comparative period we have seen continued like-for-like growth driven by market share gains across all territories.”
