Direct Golf looks forward to record year
Specialist golf retailer Direct Golf has said it is on track to achieve a record financial year after seeing year-on-year growth for the 10th consecutive month.
The company’s turnover rose by 27% in June compared with the same month last year as it looks to continue its expansion by opening further stores in 2015.
Direct Golf said sales are now up by 25% in the year to date which potentially paves the way for a record performance.
Earlier this year, the company opened a new store in Southampton as part of plans to double the number of stores from 20 to 40 by 2018. It has also invested in refurbishing stores across the country and introducing new apparel and footwear departments.
Direct Golf founder John Andrew said: “I’m delighted that Direct Golf is continuing to defy the overall downward trend in the golf industry while outperforming our competitors. It’s a very competitive marketplace and you have to get everything right to flourish and it’s testament to our staff and senior management team that we are able to targeting continued growth of the business in this way.”
Founded in 1991 from one small shop in Huddersfield, Direct Golf now has 21 retail outlets nationwide in addition to its online presence.
