Direct Golf announces ‘record breaking’ first quarter sales
Direct Golf has reported record first quarter sales as trade was boosted by strong Black Friday and Christmas sales.
The golf retailer saw sales in the period rise by 23% year-on-year.
Online sales surged by 39% while the retail stores recorded a 14% jump in sales. The company said its margin also increased both online and in-store.
Direct Golf said its Christmas sale, which was extended by a week, saw almost 500,000 visitors access the Direct Golf website.
Never Miss a Retail Update!Following investment from Sports Direct last year, the company will launch a new e-commerce website in spring 2015, and plans to double the number of Direct Golf stores across the UK, from 20 to 40, by 2018.
Founder John Andrew said: “We’re thrilled to release these latest figures, which really show that Direct Golf is in a fantastically healthy position.
“Sales are up, margin is up, and that’s good news for us as a business, but also for our loyal customers too, who will continue to benefit from even better prices, stock levels and service as the business grows and grows.
“I always call the period around Christmas and New Year our ‘Golden Period’, and this year more than ever it was a really shining example of what Direct Golf is all about.
“It really bodes well for 2015, and gives us the right sort of momentum to make this year even more successful and profitable than 2014.”
Established in 1991 from one small shop in Huddersfield, Direct Golf now has 20 retail stores in addition to its online business.
