Deichmann names fashion blog competition winner

Shoe retailer Deichmann has named Carrie Harwood from Wish Wish Wish as the winner of its 2014 Deichmann Fashion Blogger Prize.

The 23 year old has been awarded a £20,000 prize and will also become Deichmann’s guest blogger for a year. Her first post will be submitted on 24 March.

Deichmann said the prize is designed to be similar to the big literary awards, recognising bloggers on a par with modern-day authors and story-tellers.

Britain’s top fashion bloggers were invited to enter by posting a review of the brand’s ‘Collaboration Collection’ which was designed by international fashion blogger Caroline Blomst.

Never Miss a Retail Update!

Entries were judged in a three-stage process by an independent panel of experts which included The Guardian’s debut fiction columnist Catherine Taylor and fashion photographer David Ross.

Deichmann said the standard of entries was extremely high and that Harwood’s post had been selected due to its unique way of displaying the shoes where moving images were interspersed with stills.

Simon Wilson, head of buying and marketing at Deichmann UK, said: “We have been incredibly impressed by the creative ways these young bloggers have come up with to display Caroline Blomst’s collection in the best light possible. We’ve had video, comic book illustrations and even cats taking a starring role.

“It was a really hard fought competition, but we are delighted to award Wish Wish Wish the prize this year and are looking forward to reading her first guest blog post for us next week.”
