Debenhams to expand store presence in Edinburgh

Debenhams is to expand its store presence in Edinburgh with a 60,000 sq ft store at the Fort Kinnaird shopping centre.

The Gibraltar Limited Partnership has agreed a pre-let with Debenhams for the new store as part of the reconfiguration and modernisation of the existing shopping and leisure park.

The proposed multi-million pound investment by Gibraltar and Debenhams will create up to 150 jobs and will complement the retailer’s two existing stores in city.

Rob Hadfield, Debenhams property director said: “Fort Kinnaird is the ideal location to complement our existing assets in Edinburgh. It is one of Edinburgh’s key retail destinations providing flexible and well configured space. We look forward to working with Gibraltar to develop a first class store to meet the needs of the local catchment.”

Never Miss a Retail Update!

Dan Clark, asset manager for British Land, owner of the shopping centre added: “We’re committed to creating the right space and environment where retailers want to locate and customers want to shop. Debenhams decision to locate at Fort Kinnaird is a great reflection of the park’s popularity and importance to the local area. Our plans for Fort Kinnaird will ensure that it remains a premier shopping location for the future.”

The pre-let with Debenhams follows recent additional lettings at Fort Kinnaird by retailers Next, Smyths Toys, Pets at Home and Mamas & Papas.
