Debenhams eyes US market
31 May, 2011 | by Retail Bulletin
Debenhams is considering entering the US market by taking space in Sears stores according to the Telegraph.
The retailers are reportedly in the early stages of talks about Debenhams taking concessions or franchise areas in a number of Sears stores. The US department store chain currently has over 4,000 outlets in the US and Canada and has already signed deals with fashion chain Forever 21, Lands’ End and Wholefoods Market. Sears told shareholders in February that it was “looking at adding world-class third-party retailers to our space”.
Debenhams currently has 60 franchised stores outside of the UK and has said that it is looking to open a further 40.
