Debenhams appoints Daniel Finley as chief executive

Boohoo owned Debenhams has appointed former JD Sports multichannel director Daniel Finley as its chief executive.

The online fashion retailer acquired the Debenhams brand and website for £55 million last year from the department store’s joint  administrators. Since then, Debenhams has launched an online marketplace and a physical Debenhams.com store for beauty products.

Finley has worked with JD since 2012 and prior to that was group business development director at The Peacock Group.

In a statement on LinkedIn this week, Finley said: “After an incredible decade as group multichannel director at JD Sports Fashion, I decided it was time to take up a new challenge.

“Today, I am excited to have started my new role as chief executive of Debenhams, following it’s acquisition last year by Boohoo Group.

“I am delighted to take charge of a great British heritage brand and looking forward to building on the progress that the team have made since it’s acquisition.”
