Customer Service survey reveals the best customer service in the UK
To co-incide with National Customer Service Week (2-8 October 2006) customer service evaluation company Retail Eyes released statistics from nearly 50,000 mystery shopping visits to reveal how the various regions of the UK rank in terms of customer service.
According to the company, Scotland has the best customer service from the analysis, with an average score of 83.2%. The other countries rank with Northern Ireland in second with 82.1%, England in third with 80.8%, and Wales in fourth with 80.5%. The lowest score goes to the Channel Islands, with an 80.3% average.
Interestingly, despite the Channel Islands ranking last, the UK postcode with the highest average score is GY, for Guernsey & Alderney, which comes in with an average of 95%. And despite Scotland having the highest rank, the postcode with the lowest score is HS, for The Hebrides, coming in with 72.8%. Aside from Guernsey, the best cities or towns in each country are Kilmarnock in Scotland, Telford in England and Llandudno in Wales. Besides The Hebrides, the worst areas in each country are Carlisle in England, Jersey in the Channel Islands, and Newport in Wales.
When the results are broken down regionally, Scotland still is tops with its 83.2%. However, the South East of England takes the lowest spot with a 79.7% average. The best customer service in England appears to be in the North East, which comes in second overall by region with an 82.4%. The national average score is 81%.
In the capital, South West London appears to have the best customer service with a score of 81%, whereas North West London is the worst with a 76% average.
These results are based on the results of a total of 49,211 mystery shopping trips conducted throughout the UK by Retail Eyes shoppers from January to mid-September 2006.
