Currys teams up with Deloitte to encourage tech recycling
Currys has partnered with Deloitte on the firm’s new ‘Recycle for Good’ scheme, which encourages Deloitte’s 25,000 UK staff to recycle their old tech and electricals at Currys stores.
Deloitte staff can recycle their tech for free through Currys Cash for Trash and trade-in initiative in exchange for at least a £5 Currys voucher, regardless of where and when the tech was originally purchased.
The technology retailer will return some reusable devices to Deloitte, enabling the firm to donate them through its device donation programme as part of its commitment to promoting digital inclusion.
The collaboration builds on Deloitte’s existing initiative, which recycles all of the firm’s retired laptops and donates them to charities and schools. To date, Deloitte has distributed over 17,500 refurbished laptops through the scheme.
Lindsay Haselhurst, chief operating officer at Currys. said: “We are so excited to work with Deloitte on their important ‘Recycle for Good’ initiative.
“At Currys, we are committed to reducing e-waste and educating customers on how to dispose their unwanted tech, responsibly.
“Through our well established ‘Cash for Trash’ and trade-in programmes, we offer a convenient solution for Deloitte colleagues, to recycle their old tech and contribute to combatting the e-waste crisis.”
Never Miss a Retail Update!Richard Houston, Deloitte UK senior partner and chief executive, added: “Recycle for Good’ initiative with Currys allows us to turn old tech into new opportunities, ensuring that valuable devices don’t go to waste.
“Access to technology changes lives and by simply recycling their old tech, our colleagues are making a real difference to bridge the digital divide.”
