Cotswold Outdoors supports Wings for Life

Cotswold Outdoors has committed to a year-long partnership with Wings for Life, a not-for-profit spinal cord research foundation.

The outdoor retailer will support the foundation throughout 2014 by running in-store events, taking part in sporting activities, and collecting donations from customers. Activities will include bike rides, marathons, cake sales in-store and dress up days for staff as the retailer looks to help Wings for Life fund its clinical studies and research.

Wings for Life was founded by two-time motocross world champion Heinz Kinigadner and Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz after Kinigadner’s son Hannes had a tragic accident in 2003 that left him tetraplegic with paralysis of all four limbs.

Cotswold chief executive Hans Falkenburg said: “Supporting this new charity is of great importance to us at Cotswold Outdoor, to help fund the vital research being conducted by Wings for Life. We’re looking forward to giving our staff, brands and customers some really different ways of donating, be that a self-challenging sporting trial, or a light hearted day of fun in store, and we hope everyone will give generously.”
