Cook enjoys ‘stellar’ Christmas sales
Upmarket frozen food retailer Cook has reported a “stellar” festive performance with like-for-like sales surging by 6.1% in its six key weeks of Christmas trading.
Total sales, including those from new stores, rose by 12%.
Cook’s South West London stores, which have recently launched local delivery services, put in particularly strong performances, as did Cook’s online operation where sales rose by 47%.
The family-owned company said the strong sales were driven by demand for its seasonal entertaining range.
Never Miss a Retail Update!Cook founder Edward Perry said: “It’s great to notch up another record Christmas based on strong like-for-like sales, particularly given the backdrop of a tough year for many of the big supermarkets.
“As ever, the recipe for our success was simple: great product development, superior taste and remarkable in-store service. Even the rotten weather failed to dampen our spirits. Consumer demand for top quality, convenience food shows no sign of slowing and we’ve started 2014 in great shape.”
