Competition Commission appoints former Sainsbury’s adviser
David Roberts becomes Chief Business Adviser

David Roberts has been appointed as chief business adviser to the UK Commission Commission.
Roberts was director of the strategic management group at supermarket operator J Sainsbury until recently. He will be taking up his new position in mid September, succeeding Clive Rix who is leaving after six years in the post.
Roberts worked in the planning and control department of BP Oil International for three years before joining Sainsbury’s, where he undertook senior roles including group treasurer and director of corporate finance.
His experience particularly in the areas of managing acquisitions and disposals, setting up joint ventures, investment appraisal, devising and implementing strategy, and raising finance are all relevant to his new post.
