Comet wins supply chain award

Electricals retailer picks up Supply Chain Team of the Year honour
September 7 2003
Comet has been named Supply Chain Team of the Year in the Motor Transport Supply Chain Awards.

Comet’s supply chain team was recognised for advances including an increase in delivery times to stores and delivery within time window from 95 per cent in 2001 to more than 99 per cent in 2003; and damage rate on large goods deliveries has dropped from 2.6 per cent in 2000 to 0.1 per cent in 2003
Steve Pooley, head of supply chain at Comet, said: “This is great recognition for the time and effort that we have spent improving our supply chain.
“Our supply chain strategy is to target key performance criteria, such as improving product availability for our customers whilst reducing our stock and distribution cost base.
“I was really proud to collect the award on behalf of our team, who got right behind this strategy from the start quickly implementing change and exceeding our performance expectations. Which clearly helped to impress the judges.”
