Comet shines for Kesa

Comet’s revenue grew by 11.6 per cent, up 10.9 per cent on a like for like basis.

Total Group revenue grew by 11.5 per cent in local currency, up 9.5 per cent on a like for like basis, helped by continuing good market conditions. Demand for flat screen televisions remained strong throughout the quarter and sales of multi media products were particularly good during the back to school period.
Sales of white goods confirmed a return to positive growth.
Darty’s revenue grew by 11.4 per cent in local currency, 9.6 per cent on a like for like basis. Chief Executive Jean-Noel Labroue commented ‘In positive market conditions the Group delivered a good revenue performance,
particularly during August and September. Sales were led by continued double digit growth of flat screen televisions and very strong demand for multi media products, particularly laptops, during the back to school period. Despite sales of white goods returning to positive growth, the product margin trends observed in the first half continued.
‘As always our full year results are dependant on the peak December / January period, particularly in the UK. Although consumer confidence is expected to remain robust in the short term, we have seen a slowdown in the rate of growth towards the end of the quarter.’
