Co-operative Food seeks new store sites in Yorkshire

The Co-operative Food is to hold a property networking event in Leeds later this month as it targets new stores across Yorkshire as part of its ongoing acquisitions programme.

The UK’s fifth largest food retailer is looking to find properties between 2,000 sq ft and 4,000 sq ft net sales area, particularly in high street and local community locations.

As a result, it has invited property agents, developers and landlords to meet the Co-operative Food’s property team at the event which is being held in Leeds on 21 March.

The Co-operative Food has plans to acquire 100 new stores during 2014. The programme will see the business, which operates 2,800 outlets across the UK, open stores in both high street and local community locations. Recent store openings in the region include central Leeds, North Ferriby, Darfield and Addingham.

Never Miss a Retail Update!

Tim Hanser, acquisitions manager for the north, said: “With ambitious plans for 2014, The Co-operative Food is forging ahead with its acquisitions programme to expand its estate, and we are specifically looking for new locations across Yorkshire and the surrounding counties.

“We are actively searching for new opportunities to grow the business and this is a great chance to meet and work with agents, landlords and developers to identify the right properties in the right locations and in the heart of local communities.”
