Co-operative Food seeks driver of the year
The Co-operative Food has launched a competition to find the driver of the year in its logistics service.
The competition is open to more than 1,200 drivers employed by The Co-operative Food’s distribution operation, who will be nominated for the competition by their colleagues.
The winning driver will be awarded a prize of a three-day trip to Sweden, courtesy of truck manufacturer Scania, where they will tour the manufacturing plant and road test new vehicles.
Ken Thompson, The Co-operative Food’s national fleet manager, said: “We know we have some fantastic drivers in The Co-operative Food – colleagues who really go the extra mile to make a difference.
Never Miss a Retail Update!“Our new driver of the year competition is about recognising and rewarding those colleagues whose talent, skills and dedication add real value to our business.”
Nominations will be shortlisted by The Co-operative Food’s fleet panel based on criteria such as accident records, attendance, low tachograph errors, customer feedback and testimonials.
Shortlisted candidates will then undergo a series of practical and theory tests at a grand final in July at a test track at Bruntingthorpe in Leceistershire when the overall winner will be decided.
Mark Leonard, head of supply chain logistics service at The Co-operative Food added: “We are looking for the best driver in The Co-operative’s Logistics Service – an exemplary employee who takes real pride, care and attention in doing a great job.
“We have excellent drivers who are great ambassadors for The Co-operative and who have helped improve service to our stores, and ultimately our customers. It’s going to be a tough job choosing the finalists and the overall winner.”
