Co-operative Food hires retail and logistics director
The Co-operative Food has appointed former Tesco senior executive Chris Whitfield as retail and logistics director.
The post has been created following the departure of former food chief operating officer Sean Toal earlier this year.
Whitfield will report directly to retail chief executive Steve Murrells who said: “We are at an exciting point with the business as our retail strategy to concentrate on the convenience sector takes hold.
“Sales in these stores are outperforming the market and Chris’s wealth of retail experience will be invaluable as we look to improve our operations and logistics functions further.”
Whitfield has worked in retail for 27 years, mostly for Tesco where he held a number of senior roles. His most recent position was store operations director for Tesco Lotus in Thailand, which is one of the group’s largest businesses outside of the UK.
