Co-operative Food appoints regional acquisitions manager

The Co-operative Food has hired Raymond Gormley as its regional acquisitions manager for Scotland.

With 25 years in the property sector, Gormley most recently ran his own property business where he identified potential new stores for clients including The Co-operative.

In his new role, he will work alongside Ian Mason in the Co-operative Food’s Scottish team and will be responsible for acquiring sites for new food stores as well as identifying opportunities for store relocations.

Stuart Hookins, The Co-operative Food’s director of portfolio and development, said: “Having worked alongside us for a number of years, Raymond is familiar with the kind of stores that suit our portfolio, so will be able to hit the ground running.

Never Miss a Retail Update!

“His experience and knowledge of the retail property sector in Scotland will be integral to growing the food business in this country, where we have a great portfolio already, where we have launched many successful new stores over the past few years and where there are many more opportunities to bring the Co-operative brand to new customers and members.”

The Co-operative is planning to open over 100 new stores in 2014 with a focus on high street and local community locations.
