Co-op to broadcast royal wedding in food stores

Anyone having to pop out for supplies on Kate and William’s big day will be able to keep track of all the details at Co-operative food stores. The stores will be providing live national broadcast coverage of the Royal Wedding on its in-store radio for customers and staff across the UK.

It is the first time The Co-operative, which is the UK’s fifth largest food retailer, has transmitted live radio in its stores.

The live broadcasts will be transmitted on 29 April in all Co-operative Food stores with satellite in-store radio, thanks to a special live stream link up with IRN News, in partnership with Sky News.  The stream will be delivered via The Mood Media’s satellite in-store radio system.

Bulletins will come live from London and from Westminster Abbey, as well as covering street parties across the country.

Sean Toal, commercial director at The Co-operative Food, commented: “Everybody’s getting excited as the Royal Wedding draws near, so we wanted to make sure our shoppers and staff can share in this special occasion.

He added: “We don’t want our customers to miss out on any of this historic event, if they need to pop to their local Co-operative store for supplies.”
