Clothing sales pick up for Wal-Mart

Same store sales on track as peak shoping season looms
Wal-Mart has seen increased demand for clothing in its US store across the past, keeping its sales forecasts on track as the Thanksgiving weekend looms.

With Thanksgiving less than ten days away, the upcoming week should see the start of the holiday spending period in the US. Wal-Mart is forecasting same store sales in 2 to 4 per cent range for the November, the same level as across recent months,
Its strongest sales categories in the US across the past weeks were bedding, ladies wear, pet supplies, and food. The company said: “sales this past week picked up in the apparel categories which included strengths in licensed apparel and activewear.”
Average sales also increased, accounting almost three-fourths of the combined increase from higher sales and increased customer traffic.
