Like-for-likes up over festive period
Clinton Cards has reported like-for-like sales in the five weeks to Christmas Eve up by 1.8 per cent despite a “more challenging” environment on the High Street.
The UK’s largest specialist greetings card retailer also said like-for-likes in the 48 weeks to January 2 grew by 2 per cent, with total sales up by 7.5 per cent.
Clinton said trading in the Birthdays shops since the acquisition in December has been in line with expectations, but is excluded from the announced sales figures.
The company has appointed Stuart McKay as managing director of Birthdays. He joins from UK Greetings where he was deputy chief executive.
