Clarks appoints William Grant CEO as non-exec director

Footwear retailer Clarks has appointed Stella David to its board as a non-executive director.

The appointment means the seven-strong board chaired by Peter Davies now includes three independent non-executives, the Clarks CEO Melissa Potter, group finance director Robin Beacham and two non-executive directors representing the Clarks family.

David is CEO of distillers William Grant and Sons, producer of Glenfiddich, The Balvenie and Hendrick’s Gin. Prior to joining the family owned William Grant, she worked with Bacardi holding the postions of CEO of the UK and Dutch businesses, vice president of global operations and global chief marketing officer.

Commenting on the appointment Peter Davies said: “Stella brings with her a wealth of experience in building and marketing brands in an international environment, which will be a valuable asset for Clarks as we continue to develop our successful global brand strategy.”
