December sales below plan
Whittard of Chelsea has reported that it found sales harder to come by in the tough UK retail market seen in the run-up to Christmas.
The tea and coffee retailer said its sales performance in December was “slightly below expectation”.
Whittard did not break down December sales specifically, but said that across the first 30 weeks of its financial year, to December 26, like-for-like sales were 3.7 per cent ahead of 2003.
Whittard will release full half year results at the end of this month, and said pre-tax profit for the half year will be in line with expectations.
