Celesio UK appoints new operations director
Lloyds Pharmacy owner Celesio UK has appointed Catherine McDermott as its new operations director.
Due to join the business on 3 October, McDermott will direct Celesio UK’s end-to-end supply chain and logistics activities, including overseeing leading pharmacy wholesaler AAH Pharmaceuticals. She will also hold a position on the Celesio UK country board.
McDermott was previously supply chain director at Amazon where she worked for four years. Her previous roles also include working as operations director at Circle Health where she developed new, more efficient systems for delivering quality care in hospitals.
As well as achieving a Masters in Engineering, McDermott is a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering. She was both the youngest and first female chief engineer in the Pilkington group. Her career has also included roles with Tesco and Argos.
Celesio UK managing director, Cormac Tobin, said: “I’m really excited that Catherine is bringing her wealth of experience and expertise to our team. She’s joining from a very different business, but one that we can learn a lot from in terms of distribution, and I’m excited to see how she can help us grow our operational excellence.
“Catherine will lead on the development of our customer-focussed supply chain, with the goal of connecting more closely with our customers, giving them compelling reasons to do business with us time and time again.”
