Cash Convertors opens 200th UK store
Cash Converters, the retailer specialising in buying and selling pre-owned goods, has announced the opening of its 200th UK store.
The company, which operates a combination of franchise and corporate stores, said it had reached its target of 200 UK stores by the end of 2011 and was now aiming for a total of 250 by mid 2012.
The new store in Goole, East Yorkshire, has created six jobs for local people. Cash Converters said it expects to have created a total of 300 UK jobs by the end of 2011 as a result of new store openings.
David Patrick, chief executive at Cash Converters, said: “Cash Converters has seen double figure percentage increases for the last eight years, and a noticeable acceleration in growth during the last three years. Our sharp looking stores, modern retailing practices, professional management techniques and high ethical standards which are present in all Cash Converters stores set us apart from the competition and ensure that we remain number one in the UK.”
Cash Converters was founded in Australia in 1984 with the aim of transforming second hand stores into professional retail outlets. The company now has over 600 stores in 21 countries worldwide.
Patrick concluded: “This is a very exciting time to be involved with the company, our recent investment of almost £1 million in a new TV advertising campaign has meant further support for our franchisees. We have an ambitious company ethos with a strong global vision.“
