Carrefour invests to increase share in Taiwan
Retailer aims to develop more commercial towns
Carrefour aims to increase its market share in Taiwan, with plans including the development of two more commercial towns, where it trades alongside retailers including UK DIY operator B&Q.
The world’s second biggest retailer, already Taiwan’s largest hypermarket chain in terms of sales, said it plans to increase its market share to 50 per cent this year by opening new stores, revamping existing outlets, and attracting new customers with a low price strategy.
Carrefour Taiwan general manager Marc Oursin told the Taiwanese press: “We are planning to open four more new stores, which is equivalent to the sum of new outlets to be opened by our competitors, and remodel five old outlets this year.”

Oursin said Carrefour plans to open two more of these complexes next year.
