Carphone Warehouse recruits for sales boom

New sales staff needed beyond Christmas
October 29 2003
With mobile phone retailers in the UK expecting a bumper Christmas form 3G sales, Carphone Warehouse has announced that it is hiring 230 new sales consultants across the UK.

The UK’s biggest mobile phone retailer plans to retain the new employees as a permanent member of its retail team, stressing that the new posts are not just seasonal.
Carphone Warehouse is offering a wide range of camera phones, colour screen handsets and prepay mobile phones in the run-up to the gift season.
Jonathan Hook, UK retail managing director said: “The mobile phone market is already hotting up for Christmas, and we anticipate that this year’s season will be really exciting.”
As well as accommodating the Christmas rush, the requirement for the extra employees is due to store expansion plans, the company on target to open 70 new stores during 2003.
Hook said: “We are expanding aggressively, and in order to sustain that growth, we must ensure that we have the necessary number of employees to continue to offer our customers a better mobile life.”
