Carpetright sees sales ‘harder to come by’
Carpetright says it expects full year results to meet forecasts but sales growth will be harder to come by.
Group sales increased by 4.8 per cent. In the UK and Republic of Ireland total sales increased by 3.9 per cent and like-for-like sales declined by 4.0 per cent. Trading in Belgium and The Netherlands, where total sales increased by 10.2 per cent, was stronger than the UK with like-for-like sales increasing by 3.1 per cent. In Poland like-for-like sales increased by 16.0 per cent.Lord Harris of Peckham, Chairman and Chief Executive, said ‘The third quarter started strongly but there has subsequently been a slowdown. In an increasingly challenging environment sales growth will be harder to come by, but I am confident that our businesses are well positioned in their markets and I expect our full year outturn to be in line with expectations.’
