Carpetright in FD swap with Sainsbury’s

Ian Kenyon to join as finance director
Carpetright has announced that Ian Kenyon is to join the business in August as its group finance director.

Kenyon is currently director of financial reporting for Sainsbury’s. He replaces Darren Shapland in the finance hot seat at Europe’s leading specialist carpet and floor coverings retailer, making it a straight swap with Sainsbury’s – Shapland is taking up the role of chief financial officer with the supermarket group.
Lord Harris of Peckham, chairman and chief Executive of Carpetright, said: “I am delighted that Ian is joining Carpetright and I think he will add significantly to our senior team.
“He brings with him a strong retail finance background having had a variety of UK and mainland Europe roles in two large retailing groups over the last 11 years. We look forward to him joining and helping in the future development of Carpetright.”
Kenyon qualified as an accountant with Price Waterhouse. He joined Kingfisher as financial controller for Superdrug in 1994, also working in in the MVC, Castorama and Kingfisher Electricals businesses. He joined Sainsbury’s as commercial finance director in 2002 and took up his current role in 2004.
