Card Factory like-for-like sales up 2.6% in first half

Card Factory grew its like-for-like sales by 2.6% in the first half of its financial year.

In the six months to 31 July, total sales rose by 8.9% as the greeting cards retailer experienced strong growth from both its existing and new stores.

Card Factory opened 36 net new stores in the period to bring the total estate to 749 stores. In a statement the group said it had a strong pipeline of additional new store opportunities and is confident that it will open 50 net new stores in the current financial year.

Richard Hayes, Card Factory chief executive, said: “The group continued to trade well in the first half of the current financial year with good growth coming from the existing store estate and new store roll out programme, as well as from our smaller but developing online proposition. We remain confident of the group’s ability to continue to grow market share for the foreseeable future and look forward to updating investors further in September.”
