Card Factory appoints Robert McWilliam as a non-executive director

Card Factory has appointed former Asda chief financial officer Robert McWilliam as an independent non-executive director.

Due to take up his role on 1 November, he will also be a member of the greeting card retailer’s audit and risk, nomination and remuneration committees.

In addition, he will become chair of the audit and risk committee on 30 November when he will succeed David Stead who is stepping down from the board on the same date.

McWilliam was chief financial officer of Asda from 2018 to 2021 and prior to that worked with Amazon UK where his most recent role was vice president of consumables. He also worked with Asda between 1997 and 2012 when he held a number of senior positions, including commercial finance and strategy director and business change director.

He is also currently a non-executive director and trustee of Jisc and a non-executive director of Venture Simulations.

Paul Moody, Card Factory chairman, said: “Rob brings extensive retail and digital business experience, which is aligned with Card Factory  s strategic priorities, which were recently shared with market. He will bring a depth and breadth of knowledge and commercial insight that will add capability and capacity to the board.”
