Capital Shopping Centres strengthens facilities team

Shopping centre owner and developer Capital Shopping Centres has increased its focus on strengthening energy and operational efficiency with two new appointments in its facilities team.

Alan Richardson has been appointed as group energy manager, following an eight year period working as an external consultant to CSC, providing advice on sustainability best practice. CSC said it had brought the role in house as a result of its commitment to achieving a sustainability target of 30% portfolio energy savings by 2014.

In addition Richard Weavers, previously technical services director at Land Securities, has joined CSC as project manager, operations. He will be responsible for reviewing opportunities and delivering operational efficiency throughout the centres and at group level.

Brian Boundy, head of facilities at CSC, said: “We made the decision to strengthen our facilities team in these two closely aligned areas due to the increasing importance – both from a corporate responsibility point of view and general good business management – of better managing our energy usage and operations, and ensuring we comply with current and upcoming legislation in these areas.”
