British Fashion Council names NEWGEN MEN recipients
The British Fashion Council has named the emerging menswear brands that will receive support through its NEWGEN MEN scheme which is sponsored by TOPMAN.
Established in 2009, NEWGEN MEN aims to raise the profile of emerging British menswear designers through the London Collections Men fashion event. Designers who have previously been supported by the scheme include Christopher Shannon, JW Anderson, James Long Lee Roach and Sibling.
This year, three new brands are being given sponsorship to enable them to showcase their SS16 collections at London Collections Men in June.
Bobby Abley will be awarded catwalk sponsorship together with existing NEWGEN MEN brands Agi & Sam, Astrid Andersen, Craig Green and Nasir Nazhar. In addition, Cottweiler and PIETER will give presentations alongside existing NEWGEN MEN recipients Alex Mullins and CMMN SWDN.
Meanwhile, Diego Vanassibara and Vidur will have installations at the event and Kit Neale will present a salon show.
Jason Griffiths, marketing director of TOPMAN said: “June will see yet another very strong line-up for NEWGEN MEN at London Collections Men. We at TOPMAN are very proud to be the continued sponsor for this important award – and are looking forward to seeing what the cream of emerging British menswear has to offer this season.”
In addition to showcasing opportunities, the recipients are also given financial support and business mentoring.
Caroline Rush, chief executive of the BFC, said: “NEWGEN MEN is globally recognised as an identifier of talent and celebrates an industry that is growing rapidly. The opportunity to showcase a collection at London Collections Men and the key mentoring support that this initiative offers could not be awarded to twelve more deserving designers, each a unique and exciting success story in the making.”
