British Council of Shopping Centres appoints new president
The British Council of Shopping Centres has installed Mark Bourgeois, executive director of Capital & Regional, as its new president at the BCSC annual dinner and Gold Awards.
He has taken over from Hammerson chief executive David Atkins and will be supported by Giulia Bunting, planning director and main board director at GL Hearn, who has stepped up to the role of BCSC vice president.
The organisation has also appointed Mark Williams, director of The Hark Group, as BCSC junior vice president.
All three will sit on BCSC’s executive board and join chief executive John Coyne in setting the direction for the organisation.
Bourgeois qualified as a chartered surveyor with Donaldsons where he became the partner in charge of the company’s London Shopping Centre management team. Having joined Capital & Regional in 1998, he has been responsible for managing its shopping centre business since 2009 and was appointed to the company’s board in 2013.
Commenting on his appointment, Bourgeois said: “David provided strong leadership in steering a strategic review that identified some significant changes for BCSC. I’m now looking forward to working with Giulia, Mark and the rest of the board in supporting John and his excellent team in implementing those changes, as BCSC evolves to take centre stage in the dynamic retail property industry.”
