BrandAlley plans to double mobile sales in 2012 following launch of mobile site

Online private sales retailer BrandAlley has launched its first mobile-friendly site as part of plans to double its mobile sales figures for 2012.

The retailer, which runs five new private sales each day offering up to 70% off RRP across fashion, beauty, and homewares, is aiming to secure 10% of all revenue from mobile in the next year.

BrandAlley is the first private sales site to launch a fully functional mobile platform in the UK. Built by Usablenet, the site fully replicates the user journey on BrandAlley’s main site.

Marketing and PR director Melissa Littler said: “Recent consumer research commissioned by BrandAlley clearly demonstrates more people are researching and shopping via their smart phones or tablet. We found that 40% of shoppers have already bought products via a mobile device. With online access via mobile forecast to outgrow computers in 2014, we’re ready and able to take advantage of this. We plan 10% of our revenue next year will come via mobile, and it will be critical to our future growth.”

BrandAlley, which launched in the UK in 2008, has over 2.5 million members and 3 million unique visitors to its site each month. The company said sales in the last quarter of 2011 were 60% ahead year-on-year.
