B&Q makes board changes

DIY retailer B&Q has announced two new appointments to its board and a number of changes to board responsibilities as the company move towards a more omni-channel offering.

Steve Robinson, who joined the B&Q board as interim multi-channel director earlier this year, will take up the permanent role of customer director. Reporting to CEO Martyn Phillips, Robinson’s new responsibilities will encompass the areas of omni-channel, customer insight, store formats, pricing and promotions. B&Q said the appointment will help it to become a true omni-channel retailer and a more customer-focused business.

In a second board appointment, Ebru Sayilan has been promoted to the position of commercial director for seasonal and decorative. She will work alongside Ian Herrett who will take up the role of commercial director for building, showroom (kitchen and bathroom), installations and TradePoint.

Elsewhere within the business supply chain director Chris Ward will lead a new business transformation team, while marketing director Katherine Paterson will be take on additional responsibility for the new group-wide own-brands.

Never Miss a Retail Update!

Commenting on the board change Phillips said: “The changes announced today to the B&Q Board will move us closer towards an organisation that will enable us to be the company we need to be in the future; a more customer focused, differentiated, omni-channel retailer that is organised to deliver the B&Q element of Kingfisher’s Creating the Leader strategy.”
