B&Q hires director of brand communications
DIY retailer B&Q has appointed Amanda Walker to the newly created position of director of brand communications.
Having joined the retailer on 13 January, Walker was previously marketing director for Churchill Insurance at Direct Line Group. In her new role she will be responsible for B&Q’s advertising and digital activity.
B&Q has also appointed WCRS as its above-the-line creative agency with responsibility for shaping brand reputation and increasing customer engagement. WCRS will start work in February, taking over from the incumbent Karmarama.
In a separate move, the retailer has also announced that it has hired PR specialist Good Relations to handle its PR.
Chris Moss, B&Q customer and marketing director, said: “We are strengthening our team and have appointed agencies to help us uncover these stories, package them and engage with our customers and stakeholders in increasingly creative and innovative ways. I am delighted to welcome Amanda to the team as director of brand communications. We’re excited about these new appointments in WCRS and Good Relations, and are looking forward to what 2014 has to offer.”
