B&Q data highlights Christmas shopping rush amid search for trees
B&Q has said its customer data has revealed that Tuesday 26 November marked the beginning of the festive season buying rush, particularly for Christmas trees.
The home improvements retailer had expected more than 25,000 Brits to start searching for Christmas trees online on its website.
B&Q has predicted another wave of online Christmas shopping on 3 December which historically is its busiest day for festive purchases.
However, it revealed that some customers have been buying artificial trees from as early as August and September in a bid to spread the cost and reduce festive spending spikes.
Paddy Earnshaw, retail director at B&Q, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming thousands of customers through our physical and digital doors over the coming weeks as the festive season ramps up.
“With a huge range of decorations, homeware, gifts and – of course – trees, customers are sure to find something to suit every taste and budget. What’s more, £1 from the sale of every real tree sold at B&Q this year will go to our charity partner, Shelter.”
