Botterills acquires 40th store
Scottish c-store chain expands into Fife
Expanding Scottish convenience store operator Botterils has added its 40th store with a acquisition in Fife.
Botterills has acquired the Coaltown of Balgonie Village Store & Post Office through the Edinburgh office of agents Christie & Co.
The business on the main street of Coaltown of Balgonie, Fife. The store has a monopoly in the former mining village, and was operated by the previous owners for 21 years.
Daniel Arrandale, associate director at Christie & Co Edinburgh, said: “We have been aware of this business for some time and due to our regular discussions with the vendors, we were given opportunity to broker a confidential one-off deal.
“The business currently operates on a turnover of around 10k per week, although we realised there was enormous potential for a multiple operator to greatly increase future sales and profitability.
“An introduction to retained clients, Botterills, was made and a deal was agreed quickly thereafter. Botterills had identified Fife as a growth area for the company and we were keen to assist in their search to expand their portfolio.”
Lizette Craig, managing director of Botterills said: “This store and post office takes the company to another milestone, reaching 40 stores. It is also significant that it is the first acquisition since I took over as managing director in September 2004. The company is looking forward to serving the community in Coaltown of Balgonie.”
