Booths prepares to open new Lancashire store

Food and wine retailer Booths has said it is on track to open its new store in Burscough in Lancashire on 15 July.

Having worked for Booths for 30 years, Richard Ford has been appointed as manager of the 32,000 square foot store which will include a café, butchery, fishmonger and state-of-the-art deli counters. Built on the original site of HMS Ringtail, the store will create 80 new jobs in the region.

Ford explained: “Opening Booths in Burscough is a return to the Booths heartland in rural Lancashire. The region is stacked with excellent local producers making and growing some of the finest food Britain has to offer. The state-of-the-art store is very impressive, and I think customers will be excited about our new offer. What sets Booths apart is our close link to producers and exceptional produce.”

Ford said he has been visiting local suppliers to try his hand at making some of the Lancashire products soon to be sold within the new store. This has included making crisps by hand at Fiddlers Lancashire Crisps and learning how to cultivate exotic mushrooms at Smithy Mushrooms.

Ford added: “The food produced in our county tells a fascinating story of our region’s culinary heritage; it’s important to know the people behind the products we sell at Booths. We’re proud to sell so many products from our local suppliers and sharing the story behind them– and there’s no better way to learn about their provenance than getting stuck into producing them!”
