Booths on track for record expansion
Booths has said it is on track for record expansion after reporting a 6.9% increase in full year pre-tax profits.
In a year with no new store openings, the North of England based food and drink retailer saw its sales rise by just over 1% to £282 million.
The news comes as Booths prepares for the biggest expansion in the group’s history with the opening of five new stores by 2016.
Booths said the full year results had been boosted by a strong Christmas when sales rose by 6.1%. The retailer also benefited from the introduction of over 200 own label lines.
Never Miss a Retail Update! This year, Booths has expanded on its plans for Christmas and for the first time in its history will make goods in its Christmas catalogue book available for delivery nationwide.
Chairman Edwin Booth said: “Booths has always been a Northern secret, and this year we’re delivering Christmas to the nation.
“Against the backdrop of some of the most challenging trading conditions of my career, I am proud that Booths has remained true to its core values and expressed these in a modern approach to retailing.
“Booths competes against large national and international competition by being swift on their feet, inspirational to our customers and offering the best quality goods available.”
Planned store openings include Barrowford, Hale Barns, Burscough, St Anne’s and Poulton Le Fylde.
