Booths honoured at Grocer Gold Awards

North West food and wine retailer Booths has been named Independent Retailer of the Year at The Grocer Gold Awards.

The awards recognise the best in grocery retail for service, innovation and commitment.

Family-owned Booths has over 30 food and wine stores across Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cheshire, Greater Manchester and Cumbria.

One judge praised Booths for its “world-class standards”, adding: “Always innovating to stay ahead in a highly competitive sector, Booths understand their market, their customer and their brand.”

The judges also took into account the retailer’s Fair Milk scheme, which pledges to pay farmers supplying Booths’ own-label range the highest farmgate price in the market.

Booths chairman Edwin Booth said: “We’re delighted with this award, it’s a brilliant testament of the quality of our staff, our suppliers and our customers. We’re a proudly independent retailer and we’ve keep true to the roots of the original Edwin Henry Booth’s vision; to sell the best available produce in shops staffed by first class assistants. In a challenging and changeable retail market, this vision resonates now more than ever.”
