Board changes at ScS to drive growth

New finance director at furniture retailer
ScS Upholstery has appointed Ron Turnbull as finance director of the business.

Turnbull succeeds Sacha Beere, who becomes operations director. He was previously chief operating officer of Pubmaster, the leased pubs businesss sold to Punch Taverns in December.
ScS said that at Pubmaster, Turnbull performed a key role in developing and implementing both operational and financial strategies, including arranging finance for acquisitions and gaining extensive experience in raising debt, and working closely with advisors and institutional investors.
Mike Browne, ScS chairman said: “We are delighted to have attracted Ron to ScS. His impressive track record speaks for itself, and I am confident that his hands-on experience with businesses many times larger than ScS will prove invaluable in our ongoing development of the company.”
Beere has been with the company since 1996, initially as Financial Controller. In his new role, he will have responsibility for IT, logistics and customer care, ensuring ScS continues to develop and efficient systems as its store roll-out programme continues.
Browne said: “I am personally delighted that Sacha will be taking on this key role within ScS. He has contributed enormously to the company’s development over the last eight years, a period in which the business has grown from 12 stores to the current 63.
“His extensive knowledge of our business can continue to be harnessed for the further growth of the company.
“‘These two appointments now complete the senior management team at ScS, and I am confident that the Company will reap the full benefits of its growth potential under the team’s stewardship.”
