Beatties appoints new chief exec

Former Talbots boss joins department store group
UK department store operator Beatties has appointed Brian Heilbron as chief executive.

Heilbron, who takes up the role at the end of January, was most recently managing director of US clothing retailer Talbots.
His 30 year career in retail also includes a stint as chief operating officer of fashion brand Jacques Vert, from 1987 – 1999.
Battties, based in the Midlands and operating 12 department stores, has seen sales hit by increased competition in its heartland, particularly since the open of the Bullring development in Birmingham last summer, anchored by Debenhams and Selfridges.
In September, it reported that sales at its Birmingham store were down by 15 per cent, with group like-for-like sales down 2 per cent.
