Barnes & Noble to bring Nook e-reader to UK

Bookseller Barnes & Noble has announced that it is to launch its range of Nook e-readers and digital content in the UK this autumn.

With the devices currently only available in the US and Canada, the move marks the first time that Barnes & Noble has launched its e-readers internationally.

The e-readers will be sold together with over 2.5 million digital titles through a new Nook UK online store. They will also be made available through partnerships with a number of leading retailers which are expected to support the Nook offering through their ‘bricks and mortar’ stores and online channels.

The first products to be made available will include the Nook Simple Touch and Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight.

Never Miss a Retail Update!

William J. Lynch, CEO at Barnes & Noble, said: “We are proud to be able to offer our top-rated line of NOOK reading devices and our award-winning digital bookstore to the discerning and highly educated consumers in the UK.

“We’re confident our award-winning technology, combined with our expansive content – including books, children’s books, magazines, apps, movies and more – will bring UK customers the option they’ve been waiting for.”

The Nook store’s digital titles will include top-selling UK books, newspapers, magazines and comics as well as a range of Nook apps.

Barnes & Noble said in statement that it will announce details of its UK retail partners “shortly”.
