Bargain Booze owner in talks to buy Rhythm & Booze stores
Bargain Booze owner Conviviality Retail has confirmed that it is in discussions with Bibby Retail Services regarding a potential acquisition of a number of Rhythm & Booze stores.
In a statement issued today, the company said: “Conviviality notes recent media speculation in the trade press in relation to the acquisition of a small number of off-licences from Bibby Retail Services Limited, owner of the Rhythm & Booze chain of off-licences.”
Conviviality, which floated on the Alternative Investment Market last year, added that there was no certainty that any transaction would be concluded. If the purchase were to proceed, it would be funded through Conviviality’s existing resources.
Bibby Retail Services, which also owns the Costcutter chain of convenience stores, acquired Rhythm & Booze out of administration in March 2012. Rhythm & Booze operates around 50 stores across England.
