Avon launches two new advertising campaigns

Avon Cosmetics is set to launch two new television adverts on the eve of its 130 year anniversary.

Launching on 5 October, the Make Up Your Own Mind advert will see Avon products tested by bloggers Helen Anderson, Mother Pukka and LoveLaughandMakeup and features real responses to showcase the quality of the products. Avon said the bloggers were given no clues regarding the brand they were blind testing and instead were given a mysterious black box of unbranded make-up to trial.

The second advert called Work it Your Way will launch the following week and will feature the company’s independent Avon representatives. Over 400 representatives applied to take part in the advert, with 60 being hand-picked to audition at Avon’s Northampton head office.

Featuring an entrepreneurial woman who runs her Avon business alongside her cleaning company and a young woman who promotes Avon’s products through social media selfies, the advert aims to epitomise many of Avon’s core brand values. These include providing women with an opportunity to be self-reliant and to fit earning around their everyday lives.

Anthony Wells, marketing director at Avon, said: “Avon’s purpose still stands as, the company for women, and today 130 years later we’re still working hard to empower women through our flexible working opportunities, great quality affordable products and our causes. It therefore seems only fitting that our Avon Representatives and hero products take centre stage in this new and provocative campaign – Avon is the only beauty company with a truly authentic purpose.”

The adverts were created by digital and social media agency, VCCP Kin, and will run throughout October on television, online and VOD.
