ASOS retail sales up 15% over Christmas
Online fashion retailer Asos grew its retail sales by 15% in the six weeks to 9 January boosted by strong growth in UK sales.
While international sales rose by 5%, UK sales showed an increase of 27%.
The retailer said it put in a strong operational performance in the period with the roll out of zonal pricing and investment in its IT platform and distribution capability all progressing well.
ASOS chief executive Nick Robertson said: “Trading over the last six weeks was in line with expectations at +15%, with growth accelerating over Q1 as anticipated. UK sales remained strong at +27%. Improved international sales at +5% indicates an initial encouraging response to our planned price investments, also reflected in the retail gross margin performance which is in line with expectations for the period.”
The retailer said its guidance for full year sales and EBIT margin remains unchanged.
