Asos appoints Hilary Riva and Rita Clifton as non-exec directors
Online fashion retailer Asos has appointed former Arcadia Group director Hilary Riva and Brandcap chairman Rita Clifton as non-executive directors.
Riva was a member of Arcadia’s management board from 1996 to 2001, serving as managing director of Evans, Top Shop, Principles, Wallis, Dorothy Perkins, and Warehouse. As managing director of Rubicon Retail, she jointly led the management buy-out of Principles, Hawkshead, Warehouse and Racing Green from Arcadia in 2001.
In 2005, Riva joined the British Fashion Council as chief executive on a pro bono basis, taking on the organisation of London Fashion Week. Currently a non-executive director at both Shaftesbury and London & Partners, Riva was awarded an OBE for services to the fashion industry in 2008.
Clifton is currently chairman of of BrandCap and Populus and is also a non-executive director of Bupa and Nationwide. Previous non-executive directorships have included Dixons Retail and Emap, the publisher of Grazia and Heat magazines.
Never Miss a Retail Update!Having started her career in advertising, Clifton is a former vice chairman and strategy director at Saatchi & Saatchi and has previously been the London chief executive and chairman of the Interbrand global brand consultancy. She was made a CBE for services to the advertising industry in 2014.

Both Riva and Clifton will take up their postions on 1 April.
