Asda sees sales strengthen in February

Asda saw its sales strengthen in February boosted by Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.

Wal-Mart said Asda’s strong on price rollbacks was proving effective as consumers disposable income had fallen.
Wal-Mart said the ‘rollbacks’ have driven further growth in cost conscious customer visits, with shopper numbers increasing by one million in February compared with the same month last year.
At home Wal-Marts comparable store sales without fuel rose 2.5% at Wal-Mart Stores and 2.8% at Sam’s Club or 2.6% total. Total company comps rose 3% with Fuel. Eduardo Castro-Wright, Wal-Mart Stores U.S. president and chief executive officer, said, “We’re very pleased with the way customers responded to our merchandise offerings and the ongoing ‘save money, live better’ messaging across our U.S. stores in February. The comp sales results in our three largest businesses continued to outperform the market.”
